Aptus have been delivering new stores for Ramsden’s for over six years and recently assisted them to design and build their new concept. The new concept store, located in the INTU shopping centre at Braehead, Glasgow was the first store to hit ground in a major UK shopping centre.
The new concept edges towards a higher profile design and moves away from Ramsden’s more traditional look due to shopping centre design criteria’s and client offering. During the design stage of the project Aptus ensured that the designs met Intu’s criteria to pass RD01 and RD02 in which all suppliers also had to submit their detailed contractors design portions for approval. Having delivered countless projects within major UK centres, we were able to mitigate many of the issues that may have slowed down the process along the way.
The new store at Intu Braehead still incorporates Ramsden’s well-known brand colours and is complete with LVT flooring fully glazed shopfront and all of the high-end finishes that you would expect from a national landlord.
Aptus also had to install new structural steels and a branded glass facia as part of the new shopfront. The unit, previously a Lloyd’s TSB was an empty shell and required a full fit-out including complete mechanical and electrical works throughout, decoration, signage, joinery work, sprinklers, ceilings and partitions, CCTV, Access Control and Security Alarms.
Shortly before starting on site with Ramsden’s in Braehead we delivered another successful project for long standing client, Lush on the other side of the city at Glasgow Fort. Lush Cosmetics are another of Aptus’ valued clients and we have continued to support them with the roll-out of stores and refurbs for over ten years. The project i Glasgow Fort was won on competitive tender and began on the 11th December for 6 weeks.
Lush Glasgow Fort like Ramsden’s was an empty unit waiting to undergo a full fit out from the Aptus team. The first week onsite began with setting up the temporary power and lighting to facilitate installing fire walls to the front and back of house. The project was again a full fit-out from just a shell and required full mechanical and electrical design with only the shop front being retained. Lush provided Aptus with free issue energy saving light fittings and provided specially sourced reclaimed timber to be used on the walls and a section of the floor along with Mosa tiles, all of which Aptus’ team installed.
